Air traffic between Georgia and Great Britain has begun

From March 31, British Airways, the flagship of the United Kingdom, has started operating in the Georgian aviation market.

The Georgian Airports Association, with the involvement of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has successfully completed intensive negotiations with one of the largest airlines in Europe.

As a result, from today, London and Tbilisi will be connected by a direct air route.

A British Airways A320 aircraft with 150 passengers has recently landed at Shota Rustaveli International Airport.

An official reception was held on this occasion at the Government Terminal of Tbilisi International Airport.
The event was attended by the British Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Director General of the Georgian Airports Association, Levan Moseshvili, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Givi Davitashvili, General Manager of TAV Georgia, Tea Zakaradze, Head of the National Tourism Administration, Maya Omiadze, and the management of British Airways.

The airline will operate direct regular flights on the London-Tbilisi-London route with 4 frequencies per week.

British Airways is a brand founded 50 years ago, however the airline has a history of operating for more than 100 years. British Airways is a co-founder of the global airline alliance OneWorld, along with American Airlines, which is the third largest alliance in the world after SkyTeam and Star Alliance.

The close partnership with American Airlines allows British Airways passengers to enjoy transit flights via London to various cities in the United States. British Airways flies to more than 190 destinations in 65 countries around the world. The airline’s main base is located at London Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in Europe.
