Europe’s Leading Tourism Destinations in 2026

The World Travel Awards ceremony also recognized leading destinations, countries, hotels, travel agencies, tourist attractions and transport companies across Europe.

In 2026, Portugal was named Europe’s Leading Destination. Turkish Airlines received the award for Europe’s Leading Airline, Athens was recognized as Europe’s Leading City Break Destination, and the Algarve was named Europe’s Leading Beach Destination.

These awards highlight the diversity of Europe’s tourism industry and the range of experiences available to international travellers.

Batumi All-Season Destination: Tourism Beyond Summer

Since 2019, Batumi has received several prestigious World Travel Awards distinctions. These have included recognition as Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination and as a leading all-season destination in Europe and worldwide.

The World Travel Awards have been held since 1993. The awards recognize achievements across the global travel and tourism industry, with nominees competing in numerous categories across continents and countries.

Batumi’s repeated recognition highlights the city’s potential to attract visitors throughout the year, rather than relying solely on the traditional summer season.

What Does All-Season Tourism Mean for Batumi?

The all-season tourism concept creates opportunities to diversify Batumi’s visitor economy. It can encourage travel during different times of the year and support tourism businesses beyond the peak summer months.

Batumi and the wider Adjara region offer a combination of coastal attractions, cultural experiences, local cuisine and access to natural landscapes. Developing these products for different seasons can help broaden the region’s tourism offer.
