From May 27, the Kazakh airline AIR ASTANA will launch a new route at the Tbilisi International Airport – the airline will operate flights in the Atyrau-Tbilisi direction three times a week.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy, the addition air traffic between Atyrau and Tbilisi emphasizes the fact that the demand of Kazakh tourists for Georgian tourist products is growing.
“Kazakhstan is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations for Georgia, our country is being actively promoted to attract even more tourists from Kazakhstan, and it is worth noting that last year was very successful in terms of tourists from Kazakhstan.
It is good that both Air Astana and Fly Aristan fly to Tbilisi and Kutaisi international airports, and we are adding a new destination from Atyrau, which emphasizes the fact that the demand of Kazakh tourists for Georgian tourist products is growing”, said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
It Is worth emphasizing that in 2024, 178,930 international visitors from Kazakhstan visited Georgia, and the share of Kazakh airlines amounted to 3.9% of the market.
“The Kazakh airline is adding a new direction and will operate additional frequencies based on increased demand, which will further increase tourist flows, bring in more tourist spending and strengthen small, medium and large entrepreneurs involved in the tourism sector,” – the Deputy Minister noted.
It Is also important that the largest airline in Central Asia, Air Astana, will operate direct flights from Almaty to Tbilisi during the summer season, with 9 frequencies per week. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the airline will fly to the Georgian capital twice a day.
Seasonal flights on the Almaty-Batumi route will resume from June with three weekly frequencies, and for the July-August period, the airline is considering increasing to five weekly frequencies. Air Astana will also resume flights between Tbilisi and the Kazakh capital Astana from June with three weekly frequencies.
As for Kutaisi International Airport, flights from Kutaisi to five cities in Kazakhstan are operated by Air Astana’s subsidiary low-cost airline FlyArystan.
