Which Destinations Will the New Routes Serve?
The new easyJet routes will improve access to several European destinations popular with leisure travellers.
Malaga, Spain
Located on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Malaga combines Mediterranean beaches, cultural attractions and historic architecture. Flights from Southampton will begin on 1 May 2027, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
La Rochelle, France
La Rochelle is a historic port city on France’s Atlantic coast. Known for its old harbour, waterfront and maritime heritage, it offers a different experience from France’s major metropolitan destinations. The new Southampton service will start on 29 May 2027.
Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy
Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, offers access to Mediterranean beaches, historic landmarks and the island’s regional cuisine. Flights from London Gatwick will begin on 1 June 2027, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Rennes, France
Rennes is the capital of Brittany in north-western France. Its historic centre, architecture and cultural attractions make it an option for travellers interested in exploring beyond France’s best-known tourist cities. Flights from London Luton will start on 1 July 2027, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.
easyJet Continues Expanding Its European Network
The five new routes announced in October follow a larger expansion unveiled in September 2026. At that time, easyJet announced 18 additional routes from 10 UK airports for summer 2027.
The September announcement included destinations across Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Montenegro and Bulgaria. Among the destinations were Girona, Tivat, Larnaca and Thessaloniki.
Together, the September and October announcements represent 23 newly announced routes for the summer 2027 season.
Further details are available in the airline’s official announcement of 18 new routes.
What Do New Flight Routes Mean for Tourism?
The expansion of airline networks can improve accessibility between tourism markets and destinations. New direct services may make travel more convenient, support short breaks and give passengers more departure options.
However, additional routes do not automatically guarantee higher visitor numbers or tourism revenue. Results depend on passenger demand, ticket prices, flight capacity and the appeal of each destination.
For tourism businesses, changes in airline connectivity are worth monitoring because they can influence travel planning, destination marketing and competition between markets.
The announcement is also relevant to the wider European aviation market. However, the five new routes are linked to UK airports and do not represent an announcement of new easyJet services to Georgia.
