Georgia’s tourism potential showcased at Dubai exhibition

Georgia’s tourism potential is being showcased at the Arabian Travel Market, a trade exhibition hosted in Dubai between Monday and Thursday.

The Georgian National Tourism Administration, the Tourism Department of the western region of Adjara, the Destination Management Organisation of the western region of Imereti and about 30 travel companies and hotels from the country are participating in the event in the United Arab Emirates.

The Administration said visitors of the Georgian stand were introduced to various tourist spots, mountain and sea resorts and protected areas of the country.

The body has also raffled off tickets for shows featuring Scorpions and Jungle, scheduled to be held at the Black Sea Arena – a 10,000-capacity venue in western Georgia’s seaside town of Shekvetili – as part of the Starring Georgia series, a programme of performance events aiming to promote the country’s potential in tourism, economy and culture and put Georgia on the map of international event calendars.

The Administration is also in talks with travel companies of Persian Gulf countries and “private individuals” to facilitate an increase of the number of “high-spending” tourists to Georgia.

The Dubai Exhibition is hosting more than 40,000 visitors, with 2,300 companies and tourist organisations from over 150 countries represented, the Administration said.
