Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili on Friday said the tourism sector had “officially moved beyond the post-pandemic recovery stage” and was entering a new phase of development.
He said revenues from international tourism reached $3.5 billion in January-September, while the third quarter alone generated revenues of $1.6 billion.
“The dynamics of the revenue structure is important”, Nadareishvili said, highlighting a “considerable uptick” in revenues from European Union countries and the United Kingdom.
For the EU and the UK, revenues totalled $456 million, up by 6.7 percent year-on-year. Revenues from Israel soared to $323 million, reflecting an increase of 24.9 percent or $64 million over the previous year, while the figure from Saudi Arabia also hit $108 million, up 21.7 percent compared to 2023.
