After a one-year hiatus, direct air connections between the capitals of Georgia and Turkey have resumed.
The Turkish airline AJet inaugurated the service by transporting the first 150 passengers from Ankara to Tbilisi International Airport. The flights on the Ankara–Tbilisi–Ankara route will be operated four times weekly—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—using Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320/A321 aircraft.
Prior to the inaugural flight to Tbilisi, a formal ceremony was held at Ankara’s Esenboğa International Airport. Among the passengers were Kerem Sarp, Chief Executive Officer of AJet, Archil Kalandia, Ambassador of Georgia to Turkey, as well as senior representatives of both the airline and the airport authority.
The inaugural flight was likewise welcomed with an official reception at Tbilisi International Airport, organized by TAV Georgia, the operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports.
AJet has been serving Tbilisi International Airport since April 2024. During the summer navigation season, the airline significantly increased its operational frequency, and since 1 August it has been operating twice-daily services on the Istanbul–Tbilisi–Istanbul route.
