British Airways, the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom, will operate direct flights between London and Tbilisi starting in the summer of 2025, the Ministry of Economy of Georgia said on Wednesday.
The flights will be carried out four times a week, the body added.
The entry of British Airways into the country is anticipated to boost tourist inflows from the UK and strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries, the Ministry said.
The airline, which serves 190 destinations worldwide, operates primarily from London Heathrow Airport.
With over 60 airlines currently operating in Georgia and more than 100 regular flights to over 30 countries, the country has seen an increase in international travellers, surpassing three million in the first half of the year.
The increase has also led to a “record” income of $1.9 billion from international tourism, the body added.
