According to data for the first eight months of 2026, Georgia’s protected areas recorded a total of 849,448 visitors, including 505,209 international visitors.
According to the Agency of Protected Areas, the number of international visitors during the three summer months of 2026 increased by 5% compared with the same period last year.
The most popular protected areas among visitors included Prometheus Cave, Martvili Canyon, Mtirala National Park, Sataplia and Okatse Canyon. Together, these five protected areas accounted for 68% of total visitors.
The growing number of visitors indicates increasing interest in ecotourism in Georgia. The Agency of Protected Areas continues to improve tourism infrastructure and develop new ecotourism destinations, providing visitors with more opportunities to explore Georgia’s natural environment and enjoy a variety of tourism activities.
